Summer Reading Challenge Begins!

The 2026 ‘Unearth a Story’ Summer Reading Challenge for all ages will take place June 1-July 25. Register for the challenge beginning May 1 at defiancelibrary.beanstack.org and be sure to download the Beanstack Tracker app for easy, on-the-go logging! In addition, we’re hosting a full slate of dinosaur and archeology-themed programs for you to enjoy. Unearth your next great read at Defiance Public Library System!

About the Adult & Teen Challenge

Log the minutes you read each day, and for every 60 minutes you read, you’ll be entered into a weekly prize drawing for a $5 gift card to a local coffee or ice cream shop. If you log at least 480 minutes/8 hours of reading this summer, you’ll be entered in to win our Grand Prize — a $40 Meijer gift card and 2 $5 gift cards to a coffee shop and ice cream shop of your choice! Also, make sure to stop in to pick up your coupons and registration prize.

About the Children’s Challenge

Read, attend programs, and complete activities to win prizes! Registrants age 3 to grade 6 will receive a book, necklace, brag tags, and beads, plus additional beads and charms for completing the challenge, and a chance to win tickets to King’s Island!

Children under the age of 3 will receive a book and toy links upon registration, plus additional links and a chance to win King’s Island tickets for completing the challenge.
